AROUND ALONE 2002 EDUCATION AND THE RACE

The Around Alone sailing race has been followed by thousands of students every four years since its inception in 1982.
The 6th edition of Around Alone has an education program for schools and students through a web-based program supported by HSBC, the international bank that is the sponsor of Graham Dalton's New Zealand entry, Hexagon.

The 2002 Around Alone has attracted 18 entries from 13 countries. It truly is an international race.
The race fleet gathers in Newport, Rhode Island at the end of August.
On Thursday, September 12, the Prologue Race will proceed from Newport to New York City.
The race fleet will join a massive 9/11 Sail for America Commemorative Weekend in New York City with a parade of sail on Saturday, September 14.
The first leg of the race takes the starting line in New York Harbor between the site of the World Trade Center and the Statue of Liberty on Sunday, September 15. The race will complete its course to finish back in Newport RI in mid April 2003.
